The Museum is now open for visitors on Thursday, Friday & Saturday on these days volunteers will be on site – if you visit on these days you can do self-guided tour or a member will be happy to give you a guided tour of the site between 10 am & 3 pm .
Our open days for 2018 will be the first weekend of each month (excluding January , February, November & December ) from 10 am- 3pm. On these days there will be:
- ‘Kip and Dish’ cafe open
- Guided site tours
- Mining displays
- Blacksmith demonstrations
Although most of the site is accessible for wheelchair users, it is inevitable with a preserved industrial railway that the crossing of track and negotiating different ground levels in parts of the site is going to be extremely difficult.
Bowes Railway is currently renewing its display material and it is hoped to show visitors visual images of areas which are difficult to access.
