Easter Bunny Activities for Children

Easter Activities for children (am and pm sessions available). Each child will receive a chocolate egg. Come between 10-11.15. Approx time of activities 45+ minutes. Tea room and museum open as well. A Celebration of Mining Heritage

Exhibition of Colliery Banners, Children's Activities, Beer Tent, Tipsy Wagon, Model Railway display, Guided tours and more. Live music from Hetton Band and Glastonbury sensation "Dennis" Talk and slide show called "Hame" by Michael Chaplin about his father Sid Chaplin, ex-miner and famous author at 11 - 12am.

1940’s Weekend

June 29 @ 10:00 am - July 1 @ 4:00 pm

This event is run in conjunction with Springwell Village Association. The 1940's themed weekend has  recreation of a World War 2 battle as well as lots of stalls, live music, alcoholic drinks, food and drink in the Cafe and lots more. Free entry. On the Sunday, a drama group from Canada will be performing an interactive mystery play based on the history of the site. There will be a cost for participants in this event. Sunday 1 July 1pm: Living History Theatre Company from Canada: The ghost of Jane Beardmore. Solve the mystery.

The "Living History Theatre Company" from Canada will give a free drama workshop and later perform an interactive play around our site. The Drama Workshop is at 1pm. Followed by the interactive mystery play at 3pm. Meet at Tearoom at 2.45pm The body of Jane Beardmore, the daughter of a Springwell Colliery miner, was found murdered at Sandy Cut, Eighton Banks in 1888. Tall Ships Family Event. Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 July

July 7 @ 12:00 pm - July 8 @ 3:00 pm

"Pinky"  & "Perky" (our locomotives from Sunderland Docks) model wagon making sessions. The event will involve exclusive access to "Perky's" cab. Two sessions each day.
