This event is run in conjunction with Springwell Village Association. The 1940's themed weekend has recreation of a World War 2 battle as well as lots of stalls, live music, alcoholic drinks, food and drink in the Cafe and lots more. Free entry. On the Sunday, a drama group from Canada will be performing an interactive mystery play based on the history of the site. There will be a cost for participants in this event. Sunday 1 July 1pm: Living History Theatre Company from Canada: The ghost of Jane Beardmore. Solve the mystery.
The "Living History Theatre Company" from Canada will perform an interactive play around our site. The body of Jane Beardmore, the daughter of a Springwell Colliery miner, was found murdered at Sandy Cut, Eighton Banks in 1888. The participants will follow the theatre company around the site trying to solve the mystery of this gruesome event. This is a free event but requires prior booking. Numbers restricted to around 25. "Pinky" & "Perky" (our locomotives from Sunderland Docks) model wagon making sessions. The event will involve exclusive access to "Perky's" cab. Two sessions each day.
